The Griffin: A mythological character with the body of a lion, and the head and wings of an eagle. The Griffin is very popular, for it has numerous virtues and apparently no vices. Notable among the former are vigilance, courage and strength. It is sharp of eye, keen of ear, and it is reasonable to assume, faithful as a dog. Their instinct led them to know where buried treasures lay, and they did their best to keep plunderers at a distance (protectors of treasure).
